FAQs

What happens if my child gets lost on their first day?
If your child gets lost, there will be plenty of staff and student leaders around to help them find their way. During the first few weeks, staff are always on duty to support Year 7 students moving between lessons to ensure they feel confident and settled as they learn their way around school.

Will my child be in the same tutor group as their friends?
We aim to place students with at least one familiar face in their tutor group, where possible. However, tutor groups are also an opportunity to make new friends and build wider social confidence as they begin their journey at Cannock Chase High School.

What will my child’s timetable look like in Year 7?
Your child’s timetable will include a broad range of subjects such as English, Maths, Science, Humanities, Languages, PE, and Creative Arts. They will receive their timetable on their first day, and tutors will spend time helping students understand their lessons and where they need to be.

What extra-curricular clubs and activities are available for my child?
Cannock Chase High School offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including sports teams, music and performing arts clubs, STEM and subject-based clubs, creative activities, and leadership opportunities. There is something for everyone to get involved in and enjoy beyond the classroom. For more information about extra-curricular activities, please see information here:

How do you support students with additional/ SEN needs at Cannock Chase High School?
We have a dedicated SEND team, including our SENCO and Assistant SENCO, who work closely with students, parents, primary schools, and staff to ensure the right support is in place. This includes transition visits, additional meetings, and personalised strategies to help every child thrive in their learning and wellbeing.

How do I make contact with my child’s tutor and Director of Year should I need to?
You can contact your child’s tutor or Director of Year via the school office, ClassCharts or by email. Contact details are available on the school website in our staff directory. Tutors are the first point of contact for any day-to-day questions or concerns, while the Director of Year oversees wider pastoral support.

If your question is not listed here, or if you have a specific query that needs answering, please email d.higgs@cannockchasehigh.com. A member of our team will be happy to respond and provide you with the information you need.
